Welcome to the Stewarton Winds website
Stewarton Winds was formed in 2009 to provide an opportunity for students and adult members of the public to perform in a symphonic wind band at the highest level.
The band is based in Stewarton, East Ayrshire.
In November 2009 we gave our debut performance at the National Concert Band Festival at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama winning a Gold Award.
Details of all of our NCBF and SCBF performances and results can be found by clicking the relevant tabs.
Our most recent successes were at the NCBF on Sunday 7 December 2010 where we won a Platinum Award for our performance.
We won a Gold Plus Award at the SCBF Regionals in January before going on to secure the only Platinum Award of the day at the SCBF National Finals in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 2 April 2011.
Rehearsals
We rehearse in Stewarton Academy KA3 5QF on Thursday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30pm.
Stewarton is an easy 25 minute drive from Glasgow via the M77 motorway and has a direct rail link from Glasgow.
Members
We have around 40 members with an age range from 18 upwards though the majority of the band are 20's to 40 somethings.
We are a friendly band who enjoy the sociable element of the band as well as the musical challenges.
